Faith Formation Group

More and more we need to take responsibility for the development of our own faith and the faith of the parish as a whole.   The Faith Formation Group organises prayer and scripture based events and talks, Advent and Lenten programmes, Reconciliation Services etc.,

There are several 'wings' to this group.

Baptism Team:   Members of the Baptism Team visit the families of the children to be baptised.   They welcome the family on the day of the baptism and assist at the celebration.

Each year they organise a special celebration in the church for all the children that have been baptised during the year.  All the family are invited and there is a special blessing and party.

Bereavement Team:   Many families use the Cillín, the meeting room off the church, for funeral removals.   Here the community can gather to meet the family and pray for them and their loved one.

Members of the Bereavement Team set up the Cillín to receive the funeral.   They welcome the family and provide hospitality.   On the day of the funeral they assist at the liturgy.

Wedding Team:   Many wedding celebrations take place in our church each year.   Members of the Wedding Team are at the rehearsal to welcome the couple, their family and friends and the celebrant.   On the day of the wedding they set up the church, welcome the wedding party and help where needed.

Sacramental Programmes Team:   The parish has been developing Sacramental Programmes for the First Communion and Confirmation children and their parents.   It is important that home, school and the parish community work together to help prepare for these important steps in the child's journey of faith.   There are three primary schools in the parish.   A number of special gatherings are organised during the year for the children and their parents.   Members of the Sacramental Programmes Team work with the children at these gatherings while their parents meet together to reflect on their own faith and what these sacraments celebrate.   The evening finishes with everybody gathering together for a time of prayer.
