ST. PATRICK’S DAY CARDS The Communications Group have sent St. Patrick’s Day Cards to all the emigrants whose names and addresses were put on the Crann na nDeoraí Tree at Christmas. Some of these cards will be on sale after all Masses this weekend so you can send a Barna card to your loved ones for St. Patrick’s Day.

 

 

HOLY WEEK & EASTER 

PALM SUNDAY  (Blessing of Palms in the Cillín and procession to the altar only at the Sat. Vigil Mass @ 7.30 p.m.) 

 

MONDAY OF HOLY WEEK – 12 MIDDAY Mass and anointing of the sick at Our Lady’s Shrine followed by lunch & sing / song in the Cillín. All Seniors & those in need of healing welcome.

 

 TUESDAY OF HOLY WEEK: 10 a.m. Mass & 7.30 p.m. Penitential Service in Bearna Church with visiting priests for confession.

 

SPY WEDNESDAY: 10 a.m. Mass

 

HOLY THURSDAY: 11 A.M. Chrism Mass in The Galway Cathedral – The 3 Oils that will be used in all our Sacraments will be blessed at this Mass with our Bishop and all the priests of our diocese who will renew their priesthood vows at the Mass. For Confirmation students and their parents it is a nice ceremony to attend.

 

 THE TRIDUUM BEGINS WITH THE LORD’S LAST SUPPER & THE GARDEN OF GETHSEMINE  7.30pm (which this year will be in the Rosary Garden between the Tomb & The Church windows) – WATCH & PRAY 9 – 10 p.m. in the Church.

THE DAWN MASS. EASTER SUNDAY 5 a.m. lighting of Pascal Fire & preparation for Dawn Mass that will begin @ 5.20 a.m. – This year the Fire & Dawn Mass will be on The Bearna Church Grounds, looking out on Silver Strand & Galway Bay. Refreshment in the Cillín after Mass. Parking for Cars will be stewarded on Church Grounds. 10 a.m. Easter Children’s Mass

 

12 MIDDAY Easter Mass offered for all our parish community. It will be, I feel, a great time to be alive and to live one’s faith in this special Year of Faith with, hopefully, our new Pope in place.

SACRAMENTAL PREPARATION: On Tuesday this week the children of Buaile Beag School will receive their First Reconciliation. On Thursday the children of Scoil na bhForbacha will receive the Sacrament. Please remember all our candidates for the sacraments and their families and teachers in your prayers. We welcome our confirmation candidates from Buaile Beag and Barna to 7.30pm thisSaturday and Scoil na bhForbacha to 11am in Furbo on Sunday. The young people will take part in the entrance procession and in the readings and prayers. They made a retreat in preparation for their confirmation at Ballintubber Abbey on Tuesday and Wednesday of last week. Sacramental Preparation Team

CIRCLE OF CARE the children of Faith and Fun, Create and Believe and the Junior Group will be taking part in the children's Stations of the Cross on Good Friday at 5.30pm. All children are welcome to take part from ages 4-12, practices will take place on Saturday March 23rd and Wednesday March 27th in the Church from 4-6pm.
